Frequently asked questions

Discover how Senior Watch Advocacy serves as your trusted local presence in Sanford, North Carolina. Below are answers to the most common questions families ask about our non-medical advocacy, companion care, and updates.

What is Senior Watch Advocacy?

Senior Watch Advocacy is a non-medical senior advocacy and support service designed to provide a trusted presence for older adults and peace of mind for their families. We check in, listen, observe, provide companionship and support, and help keep authorized family members informed.

Who can benefit from your services?

Our services are especially helpful for seniors who live independently, in senior apartments, assisted-living communities, rehabilitation centers, or nursing facilities. We also support families who live out of town, work demanding schedules, travel frequently, or simply cannot be physically present as often as they would like.

How are you different from a home health agency?

We do not replace nurses, home health professionals, personal-care aides, or medical providers. Our primary focus is advocacy, observation, companionship, communication, and family peace of mind.

We can serve as an extra set of eyes and ears for families and work alongside other professionals already involved in the senior's care.

Do you provide medical care?

No. Senior Watch Advocacy is a non-medical service. We do not diagnose medical conditions, provide skilled nursing care, prescribe medication, or replace licensed healthcare professionals.

What happens during a senior wellness or advocacy visit?

Each visit is based on the senior's individual needs. We may spend time talking with the senior, listen to concerns, observe their general well-being and surroundings, provide companionship, assist with agreed-upon non-medical needs, and communicate appropriate observations to an authorized family member.

Can you visit my parent in a nursing home, assisted-living facility, hospital, or rehabilitation center?

Yes, we may arrange advocacy visits in these settings when appropriate authorization has been provided.

Our purpose is to provide a caring presence, listen to the senior, observe, ask appropriate questions, and help communicate concerns.

Can you go to medical appointments with my loved one?

Yes. We can accompany seniors to medical appointments for support and advocacy. We can help prepare questions, take notes, and—with proper authorization—provide designated family members with information about the appointment.

Can you help with groceries, errands, meals, or light household tasks?

Yes. Depending on the service plan, we may assist with grocery shopping, errands, simple meal preparation, and agreed-upon light household tasks.
